Day two of the District 2 Little League Tournament was a split for the Laramie All-Stars. The 11-12 All-Stars won 17-5, while the 9-10’s lost 14-0.

11-12 All-Stars

Three home runs in the second inning propelled the Laramie All-Stars past Cheyenne 17-5 in four innings Tuesday.

Laramie trailed 1-0, but responded with two runs in the first and took the lead for good.

For a second consecutive game the big inning was the second. The 11-12 All-Stars scored 14 runs in that frame. After a pair of run scoring singles, Garrett Dodd produced a two-run double for a 6-1 lead. It was 7-1 when Camden Shipman smashed a grand slam and made it 11-1. Two batters later, Ben Ruckman went deep with a two-run shot. Mahlon Morris added a three-run blast that made it 16-1.

Brandon Chavez had three hits and two RBI to lead an offense that pounded out 15 hits.

Jackson Devine got the win on the mound.

Laramie will face Gillette Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to Friday’s championship game.

9-10 All-Stars

Gillette American scored 10 runs in the first inning and rolled to a 14-0 victory over Laramie Tuesday.

A two-run double and five singles produced the main offense for Gillette American in that inning. They also stole home twice in the first. Gillette added three more runs in the second and one in third for the final margin.

Max Stanard had Laramie’s only hit. Caleb Squires took the loss on the mound.

The Laramie 9-10 All-Stars will have to battle back in the loser’s bracket. They will face elimination in the next game, as they take on Cheyenne Wednesday at 1 p.m.

All game action is at the Laramie Youth Baseball Complex on Armory Road.
