Previous University of Wyoming Basketball Player Arrested After Attempting To Pass Fake Twenty Dollar Bill

A former University of Wyoming basketball player has been arrested in Laramie after allegedly attempting to pass a counterfeit $20 bill.

Laramie Police started an investigation for Passing Counterfeit Bills when an alert fast food employee reported an attempt to pass the fake bill on September 26th, 2014 at approximately 10:14 AM. As noted via email by Commander Cushman with the Laramie Police Department, most people know to check $50 bills and $100 bills, but do not always check $20 bills as they are so numerous. The alertness and attention to detail by the employee led to the investigation.

During the course of the investigation, 27-year-old Afam Muojeke was arrested. Muojeke is being held on state charges of 6 counts of Forgery and Possession of Forged Writings.

Forgery is a felony and punishable by imprisonment for not more than 10 years, a fine of $10,000.00 or both. Counterfeiting is a felony and a federal crime.

Unless extenuating circumstances are present, investigations of counterfeiting, once discovered, are turned over to the Secret Service for processing.
