Question:

What should residents do with leaves?  Is the city planning on curbside pickup? The drop off locations are starting to overflow, is the city planning increased frequency of emptying the yard waste dumpsters, and if so,  how long will the yard waste dumpsters be available this fall?

Answer:

"During the process of adopting the Fiscal Year 2017 budget that became effective on July 1, 2016, significant reductions were made to offset a $2.2 million revenue deficit attributed to a decline in sales tax revenue and direct distribution funding from the State of Wyoming. Reductions in services were identified and discussed during public meetings as the budget was developed by city staff and the Laramie City Council prior to adoption in June 2016. Curbside leaf pickup by the city was discontinued, and announcements of this change were distributed through media outlets including: the local newspaper, radio stations, and the city's website.

The city has increased the frequency in pickups of green waste containers and has left them out as long as practical. Containers will be removed for the winter on November 21, 2016. It has been noted that leaves are accepted at the landfill for no charge during the regular Laramie Landfill business hours. More information can be found on the city's website."
