Both Laramie High School basketball teams will try for their first 4A East Conference victory tonight, as Laramie plays in a girl's-boy's doubleheader at Cheyenne South.

In fact, all four teams that play tonight are in search of their first conference win. Both Laramie and South boy's and girl's are 0-2 after losses last weekend to Gillette and Sheridan.

The opener features the ladies in action starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen (7-8, 0-2) take on a South Lady Bison (4-11, 0-2) team to which they've never lost. Laramie comes averaging 39.5 points per game, while the South is at 36.9. While the Lady Bison (32%) are a better shooting team than LHS (29%), the Lady Plainsmen are the third-best rebounding team in 4A girl's basketball at 30.5 per game.

South is averaging only 24.9 per game. Laramie also has slight edge in team defense, as they surrender 42.7 points per game compared to South's 45.3, which ranks sixth and seventh, respectively.

Noble leads South in scoring at 13 points per game and triggers their offense. LHS is led by Jacqui Pulley at 9.1 points per game. She also averages 3.1 assists and 4.1 steals per game.

The second part of the doubleheader will be the boy's game at 7:00 p.m.

The Laramie Plainsmen (3-12, 0-2) will face a South Bison (4-11, 0-2) squad that returns three starters from last season. Just like the girls, the LHS boys haven't lost to South either. The Plainsmen hold the edge in scoring (55.4 ppg to 54.5 ppg) and rebounding (27.8 to 24.1), while the Bison shoot better (41% to 40%) and give up about six points less per game defensively (56.1 to 62.7).
