A Laramie man has been arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance.

Marshall K. Matson, 34, was arrested on his fourth charge of possession of a controlled substance, which is a felony in Wyoming.

At about 10:00 p.m. on Nov. 15, Laramie Police Officers and members of the Laramie Fire Dept. responded to the 600 block of South 2nd Street after an odor of gas was detected in an apartment.  It turned out that the odor was coming from a heater that was in fact functioning properly, and there was no danger to the occupants of the building.

As the police officers were preparing to leave, they noticed another odor–burnt marijuana–allegedly coming from one of the other apartments.  According to a statement from LPD, officers contacted the tenant and got a search warrant.

Police say that during a search of the apartment a large amount of marijuana paraphernalia was seized along with containers that had suspect marijuana in them.

Matson was arrested and booked into the Albany County Detention Center on the charge of fourth offense possession of a controlled substance, which is a felony.

If convicted, Matson could face up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
