A nineteen-year-old man, wanted for probation violation out of California, led police on a chase for just under 5 minutes before striking a tree and getting apprehended.

According to Laramie Police Commander Jeff Bury, police received a call notifying them that Jason Kohl, a suspect wanted on an out-of-state warrant for probation revocation, was in the Laramie area.
Commander Bury says that just before 7:00 Monday evening, officers observed Kohl drive by and attempted to make contact, when Kohl then tried to elude police.

Commander Bury goes on to say that the suspect attempted to negotiate a turn on the corner of 19th St and Grand Ave, but struck a parked vehicle.  Officers then tried to block Kohl in, but Kohl allegedly struck a police vehicle and proceeded to the area of 18th St and Garfield where he is said to have failed to negotiate another turn, striking a tree.  It was then that officers were able to apprehend him.

In addition to the out-of-state warrant, Kohl was cited for eluding police, hit & run, and failure to stop.

Kohl was treated and released at Ivinson Memorial Hospital following complaints of pain after the collision.  He is currently in police custody.
