The Laramie Movie Forecast is written by Robert Roten, founder of the Laramie Movie Scope website.

Movie weather continues unsettled with no film taking charge of the summer movie season since Iron Man Three.

Pacific Rim was released last week in the hopes of capturing a big summer action audience.  It got good reviews but was beat at the box office by a cartoon, Despicable Me 2, and by Grown Ups 2, an Adam Sandler comedy.

The next film aimed at action audiences is R.I.P.D., a supernatural buddy-cop film, starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds.  Also opening this wee are Turbo, an animated comedy; and the action comedy sequel, RED Two.  None of these three films look to be very promising.

The film opening this week rated highest by critics, The Conjuring, didn't make it to Laramie.

Iron Man Three, the biggest hit of the year so far, returns to Laramie Friday.

The free summer film series at the county library continues Saturday night at 7:00 with one of the best films of 2012, Cloud Atlas.  It rates an "A."

The best holdovers from last week are Despicable Me 2 and Pacific Rim.
