A Laramie man is dead after a fatal collision on I-80 just west of Laramie.

According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Steven Townsend, 43-year-old Roy G. Scott was pronounced dead at the scene on May 19th around 11 pm, after his 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser was struck by a Freightliner truck.

Troopers says that the Scott vehicle left the business loop road and came to rest on the westbound emergency lane and partially in the driving lane of I-80. "The vehicle appears to have landed on its roof causing extensive intrusion into the passegner compartment on the driver's side. Scott's vehicle was then struck in the front end by a semi tractor trailer combination."

A driver and passenger in the Freightliner semi were listed as uninjured in the crash. Sgt. Townsend says the cause is under investigation and that troopers are currently exploring alcohol and poor maintenance of the Scott vehicle as contributing factors.
