Tonight marks the conclusion of the regular season for the Laramie Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen. It's the final home game of the season for both teams, as they take on Cheyenne Central.

A ceremony to honor each team's seniors is planned beforehand. The girl's game is slated to start at 5:45 p.m. with the boy's to follow at 7:30 p.m. This means the recognition of the Lady Plainsmen's four seniors will take place at 5:30 p.m. The five Plainsmen seniors should be honored around 7:15 p.m.

Laramie's four senior girls are Megan Dooley, Joey Harris, Caitlan Hensley and Jacqui Pulley.

Lady Plainsmen head coach Kyle Stucky said of this senior class, "The first group is always a special group. Kids welcomed me in; they've taught me a lot, and hopefully have learned a little bit from me, as well. I enjoy the group. They are just good, quality kids, on top of the fact that they're good basketball players, too. Definitely mean a lot to the program, me personally, and it's going to be a little emotional tonight."

Laramie's five senior boys include Drew Burman, Robbie Harding, Tommy Nachtigal, Gabe Selting and Kollin West.

Plainsmen head coach Chuck Kern said, "They're not only good guys on the court, I like seeing them in the classroom; I like seeing them in the hallways. It's a group of guys I've gotten close to, and you connect with guys differently when you're their coach. It's always a strong bond, I think. It's going to be a special night."

Last night, both squads lost at Cheyenne East.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen (9-13, 2-7) failed to score in first quarter, and #3 East pulled away in the second half for a 49-25 victory over LHS.

It wasn't until 57 seconds into the second quarter that the Lady Plainsmen got on the scoreboard. That was thanks to a 3-pointer from freshman Eliza Dickinson. Laramie went on an 8-2 spurt in the second period and managed to get within 21-9 at half. East started the third quarter strong with an 11-1 run, and the LHS girls' weren't able to recover.

Alexis Pickerd led Laramie with seven points. The Lady Plainsmen shot only 24 percent in the loss.

They look to bounce back tonight and will try to complete a regular season sweep of Cheyenne Central, whom they defeated on the road three weeks ago 34-32.

The Laramie Plainsmen (4-18, 1-8) fell to the fourth-ranked East Thunderbirds last night in Cheyenne by a final of 59-43.

East held a six-point lead, 21-15, at the end for the first quarter and steadily pulled away. The T-birds held Laramie to 36 percent shooting from the field and took advantage of their edge on the glass. East finished with 15 offensive rebounds and ended up out-rebounding the Plainsmen, 36-21.

Laramie will seek their second conference win tonight, as they take on Cheyenne Central. The Indians beat the Plainsmen three week ago, 53-43, in Cheyenne.
