The final tune-up for the Laramie High School golf teams turned out to be a solid one, as it was another busy weekend for LHS student-athletes.

LHS Golf

The Laramie Plainsmen had their best outing of the fall season on the links, as they finished in a tie for second place at the Casper Invite. Laramie ended with a 2-day total of 628, which was the same as Natrona County. Both teams were four strokes behind Evanston.

Both senior Ryan Bellflower and junior Grant Whrel finished in the top five. Bellflower carded a 151 total and came in fourth. Whrel tied for fifth place with a score of 153.

The Lady Plainsmen wound up in fourth place behind Natrona, Sheridan and Scottsbluff, NE. LHS posted a team score of 549. Senior Jacquie Perdue recorded a 2-day total of 168 for sixth place.

LHS Tennis

Both squads wrapped up the regular season with four home duals last weekend. The Plainsmen went unbeaten, while the Lady Plainsmen were 3-1.

The boy’s team defeated Green River and Rock Springs 3-2 last Friday. They added a 4-1 victory over Rawlins and 5-0 win against Cheyenne South last Saturday. The Plainsmen finish the regular season with an 8-3 dual record.

The girl’s squad split their matches last Friday with a 4-1 win over Green River, but lost 4-1 to Rock Springs. Number two singles player Lea Bergman recorded the only win. Saturday saw a 4-1 victory over Rawlins and a 5-0 win by default over South. The Lady Plainsmen conclude with a 6-5 dual record in the regular season.

LHS Cross Country

The Plainsmen continued their dominance, as they won the division 1 team crown at the John Martin Invite in Fort Collins, CO last Friday. Laramie’s boys placed all seven varsity runners in the top 21. Senior Chris Henry won the individual race and helped LHS end with 44 team points. They won 48 points.

In division 2, the Lady Plainsmen came in fifth place. They were led by junior Hailey Schmidt, who came in 14th place.

Lady Plainsmen Swimming & Diving

Laramie finished second behind the host Jackson Lady Broncs at the two-day Adam Denton Memorial. The Lady Plainsmen finished with 515 team points, while Jackson had 558.50.

LHS won four events. Freshman Catie Weathermon won the 50 free. Senior Jennifer Snyder captured the 200 free. Senior Ryleigh Kobbe and Michaela Pooler went 1-2 in diving, and Laramie also won the 400 free relay.

Lady Plainsmen Volleyball

The Lady Plainsmen lost their home opener last Friday night to Riverton in four sets.

Scores of the match were 28-26, 14-25, 16-25 and 20-25. Laramie dropped to 4-10 on the season.
