Demolition and re-construction of the Laramie greenbelt path under Snowy Range Road adjacent to the Laramie River will begin Wednesday, Jan. 10.

The construction will replace portions of the concrete on the pathway that have deteriorated over time, as well as adding erosion protection to the area. Wyoming Department of Transportation contractors will begin the demolition Wednesday and hope to finish before the high waters in the spring impact the area.

Keith Wardlaw, Laramie Mosquito Control Supervisor said the handrails separating the path from the river have been damaged due to cold and will be replaced as well. Wardlaw said the construction had been planned for some time, but due to the mild weather, crews can begin work on the path earlier than expected.

Crews have placed signs and barricades in the area and no foot or bicycle traffic will be allowed in the construction zone.
