I never get tired of catching a big brown trout! This week after a good friend of mine got married on a Wednesday! I figured the day was pretty much shot especially after having brunch with Bloody Mary's at El Conquistador at 10:30 in the morning. I said we might as well go fishing and I can work on the weekend.

With not too many more of these days left before summer ends, god forbid, I better get out there and fish. I went on the stretch of the Big Laramie (Pioneer Canal) and fished below the dam and caught this nice 17 inch brown trout with a Rapala lure in about 2 minutes. Then my black lab started following me in the water, he loves water and I can't blame him. I was not too upset since I caught a big fish so just went up stream and played with him while my friend tried out his luck.

Unfortunately it was the only fish caught that day, but after driving back to Laramie I decided to give the brown trout to my friend that got married and they went up to Sturgis to have fun with naked biker people. Not my idea of a honeymoon! But wish them well and thanks for dragging me away to fish on a Wednesday.

Hot Places to fish!

The Reef is fishing great.  Lots of large fish have are being caught in the 20+ inch range. The Reef  is running clear from the dam to Casper.  The fishing has been great with the usual cast of characters, worms, scuds, leeches, and egg patterns. PMD nymphs are also producing a fair number of fish.

Cautions:

You still cannot float between Treasure Island and Saratoga, due to a couple of low bridges.
