Laramie County Rescinds Full Fire Ban, Imposes Partial Fire Ban

After nearly a month of harsh fire restrictions, Laramie County residents can now grill out and burn their trash.

The Laramie County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday rescinded the full fire ban adopted on July 20 and imposed a partial fire ban.

"With the full ban you couldn't burn at all," said Laramie County Fire Warden Matt Butler. "With the partial you're allowed to burn, but only between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 a.m."

Butler says while the discharge of fireworks and most outdoor fires are still prohibited, county residents can have contained campfires and use off-road vehicles such as four-wheelers and mowers.

Welding and branding activities in cleared areas ten feet in radius are also permitted.

"There are still many areas of the county that are extremely dry and are receiving very little rain," said Butler. "That presents an extreme fire danger to the county."
