The Laramie Lady Plainsmen swimming and diving team won, but the Lady Plainsmen volleyball team lost in action Tuesday night.

Both teams were in Cheyenne taking on East High School.

Swimming and Diving

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen swimming and diving team defeated the Lady Thunderbirds in a dual by a final score of 102-82. They improved to 12-2-1 in dual meets this season.

Laramie won six of the 12 events. Freshman Catie Weathermon led the way with victories in the 50 and 100 freestyle. LHS did not pick up any new state qualifiers, which means they remain at 23.

LHS goes on the road to Gillette for a pair of competitions this weekend.


The Lady Plainsmen volleyball was swept in three sets by top-ranked Cheyenne East.

Scores of the match Tuesday night were 25-8, 25-17 and 25-17 in favor of the Lady Thunderbirds.

Laramie falls to 9-14 overall and 2-3 in the 4A East Conference.

The Lady Plainsmen return to action Friday and Saturday, when they start the second half of conference action by hosting Sheridan and No. 3 Gillette. Match times are at 6 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.
