Wyoming junior Justin James has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday for the second time this season.

James scored a career-high 33 points in the Cowboys’ double-overtime upset of then No. 23 Nevada last Wednesday, 104-103. He followed that up with another 33-point performance in Wyoming’s 90-86 overtime victory at San Jose State Saturday.

James shot 59.5 percent from the field (25-42) and averaged nine rebounds per game for the week.

He made a career-best 14 field goals in the win over the Wolfpack. James also grabbed 10 rebounds and shot 64 percent from the field at the Arena-Auditorium. He went 11-of-20 against the Spartans and 9-for-12 at the foul line with five assists in California. James scored nine of UW’s 13 points in OT at San Jose State and helped the Cowboys improve to 5-0 in overtime games this season.

James was also selected the MW Player of the Week on Dec. 18, 2017. Teammate Hayden Dalton was the first MW Player of the Week for this current season back on Nov. 13, 2017.

The Cowboys return to action Wednesday night with the second edition of the “Border War” at rival Colorado State. The game starts at 7 p.m. in Fort Collins.
