The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information on two separate poaching cases in the Laramie area.

One of the cases involves the poaching of a moose on or around October 3 near the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Little Laramie River on the Medicine Bow National Forest.

An adult bull moose was shot and left to rot within 20 yards of Forest Service Road 338. The incident took place in hunt area 38, a coveted moose area and one of the most difficult to draw in the state.

“This animal was stolen from legal hunters in Wyoming and we are hoping someone has information that will help us locate the person responsible for this crime,” said Robin Kepple, information specialist for the Game and Fish Department.

Another incident took place early the morning of Saturday, October 4. In this incident two mile deer bucks were poached near Torrington around Prairie Center along County Road 47.

Witnesses reported seeing two shooters kill the bucks from the roadway while trespassing on private land. The witnesses approached the shooters, who fled the scene and abandoned both mule deer carcasses.

Anyone with information on either of these cases is asked to call the Stop Poaching Tip Line at 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847). Tips may also be reported online at http://wgfd.wyo.gov.

Informants can choose to remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward for information leading to an arrest.
