RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — Carbon County authorities say human remains found by a hunter in the Snowy Range Mountains have been identified through dental records.

The sheriff's office says the remains found in September are those of 61-year-old Lee Ramsey, who was reported missing in 2006.

The Associated Press reports that on Aug. 4, 2006, a van belonging to Ramsey was found at the Tipple Trailhead parking area along Highway 130. The man's brother told authorities Ramsey was in the final stages of cancer and had probably parked there in early July and hiked south into the forest.

A news release from the sheriff's office says "Ramsey had camped in that area in the past and that is where he chose to go to spend the remaining days of his life."
