Ivinson Memorial Hospital will celebrate the opening of its new patient tower after completing one of the largest capital projects in the hospital’s history.

Ivinson Memorial Hospital invites the community to an open house and tours of the remodeled areas on Thursday, January 15 from 4 - 7 p.m. with guided tours every 15 minutes beginning at 4:30 p.m.

This new expansion and renovation will help IMH continue bringing quality healthcare to people of Albany County by improving patient access and comfort, and by providing additional space and new medical technologies.

Open house attendees will have a chance to see many of the newly expanded and renovated areas.  Included on the tour will be the new dialysis unit with nine outpatient dialysis stations and the capacity to treat 16 patients a day three times a week.  A visitor program is available year round to provide treatment for out-of-town patients.

The new expansion includes 30 private patient rooms with showers.  Each room is equipped with a large screen television along with equipment to monitor patient vital signs.

The renovation created space for private pre-operative area along with a post anesthesia care unit.  The operating room suites were also expanded in size to accommodate the state of the art lighting and monitoring systems.  In addition, new areas were added for inpatient rehabilitation and behavior health services, along with a sleep lab. The project also included an upgraded cafeteria with an abundance of seating.

Remodeled areas also include the gift shop and the west atrium all on the main floor. Commanding attention in the atrium is the grand staircase which greets patients, families, and visitors along with artwork from local artists. CEO Doug Faus said the renovation was under budget and has been fully funded.

RSVPs are not necessary for the open house and tours.
