When people think of Jubilee Days, there are always some things that come immediately to mind. For some people it’s the many rodeo events, for others the celebration centers around the downtown area. One different event that many people do not realize occurs during Jubilee Days is a horseshoe tournament.

The Third Annual Rotary Club of Laramie and City of Laramie Horseshoe Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 12 at the horseshoe pits in Washington Park. The tournament is open for teams of two people and can include two women, two men or a co-ed team. As per traditional horseshoe rules, women will pitch from 30 feet and men from 40 feet.

It will be a single elimination tournament, with games played to 21 points. Each match will have a 45 minute time limit. A maximum of 30 teams can enter. Warm-ups and lunch will begin at 11:00 a.m. and tournament play is expected to go from noon until about 4:00 p.m.

Entry for the tournament is $40 per team, which includes a free lunch. Proceeds will benefit groups and people in the community through the Rotary Club. Winners get a cash prize with first place receiving $300, second place $200 and third place $100.

The tournament is open to all community members who wish to compete. It is requested that professionals not sign up for the event.
