SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) - A bill has been proposed in the state Legislature that would allow homebrewers to bring their beers to brewfests throughout Wyoming.

Republican Senator Dave Kinskey, of Sheridan, is the primary sponsor of Senate File 62.

Kinskey says the bill is aimed at eliminating unnecessary regulations. He emphasized that large-scale alcohol manufacturing and sales need to be regulated, but brewfests are just a way for hobbyists to share their brews.

Kinskey said he drafted the bill after a number of beer enthusiasts were denied permission to take part in brewfests.

The legislation would also permit people who make wine and mead to enter their drinks into competitions.
