Laramie and much of the region could see wind gusts up to 65 mph Monday, according to a high wind warning from the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.

Widespread strong winds are expected to return to southeastern Wyoming late Monday morning and continue through early evening. The warning is in effect from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

West winds with sustained speeds of 35-50 mph are expected with gusts to 65 mph.

Gusts over 60 mph present a high risk for blowovers, and will make driving light-weight and high-profile vehicles very difficult.

Interstate 80 between Laramie and Cheyenne was closed to light, high-profile vehicles due to extreme blowover risk as of 8:31 a.m. Monday.

Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage, the National Weather Service says.
