Laramie Junior High School will host the 28th annual Hapi-Ness 5K benefit on Saturday, May 17th.  The event was established in 1987 by the ninth grade class at LJHS in memory of classmate Hapi Patterson who died that year of leukemia.

Proceeds from the race will go to assist a Laramie family with major expenses due to severe medical conditions.  The family chosen to receive funding this year is Chris and Donna Hockley.

In early 2014, Chris went to the emergency room with what he thought was an infection in his tooth and diagnosed with cancer of the jaw.  Chris is now recovering from surgery.  His mother, Donna Hockley, currently teaches at Laramie Junior High School and Chris attended LJHS.

For more information on the Hapi-Ness 5K contact Janet Johnson at (307) 721-4420.

Donation checks may be made payable to Laramie Junior High School HAPI-5K and mailed to the Junior High.  Sponsors that donate more $100 or more will have their name printed on the back of the race T-Shirts.  Those who are able to donate $500 or more will have their name and logo printed on the back of the race shirts along with a plaque recording their participation.
