Grand Construction-Ask the City

Question:

Signs say that Grand Avenue is going to be closed from 9th through 21st streets starting on July 5, 2017. Why is the section between 15th and 21st going to be closed, since it was just completed a few years ago and the construction map only shows a closure of Grand Avenue from 13th through 15th and no additional information can be found on WYDOT's website?

Answer:

"The actual closure is from 13th to 15th. the detour is from 9th to 21st because that was the best detour route along collector streets. The detour plan can be found on the city's website under the construction tab. We plan to modify the verbiage on the signs to communicate that local access is available within the closure, which should alleviate some confusion. The closure of Grand Avenue and 15th Street should only last a month."
