On September 1st, members of Cheyenne Fire Department 279, along with members of the Federated Fire Fighters of Wyoming and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) will be hosting a special event to celebrate 61 years of partnership in fighting Muscular Dystrophy.

Expected to speak at this event, held at the state capital starting at 10:30 a.m., are Governor Matt Mead, Cheyenne Fire and Rescue Division Chief Byron Matthews, 279 President Kevin Reddy, and local families affected by Muscular Dystrophy.

The event will also serve as the start of the Fill the Boot campaign, during which firefighters from across the city will hold boots in their hands to receive donations through Labor Day weekend.

Proceeds from Fill the Boot will help fund research, specialized health care and day to day support for Muscular Dystrophy patients.
