A car driving away from an attempted traffic stop crashed into a light pole north of Cheyenne Monday evening, closing an intersection in four directions.

That's according to Major Keith Groeneweg with the Wyoming HIghway Patrol, which is investigating the crash. Groeneweg says the chase started when Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation [DCI] agents tried to stop a car on Story Avenue,

Officials aren't saying why the agents tried to pull the car over, but Groeneweg says instead of stopping the car's driver took off with the DCI agents chasing it.

But he says the car being chased left the road and hit a light pole at the intersection of Four Mile Road and Yellowstone Road and then rolled over onto it's roof.

The crash happened a little after 5 p.m. on Monday. The intersection was closed for roughly four hours.

The driver and a passenger in the car were taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Their names haven't been released, and Groeneweg says the patrol is investigating the crash.
