Ultimate Fishing Town contest:

Find that Perfect Fishing Spot:

Using technology to find fish, what a great idea! The Wyoming Game and Fish Department recently released their Interactive Fishing Guide (click here) where you can select different basecamps, such as satellite, terrain, or road maps. If you live under a rock and don't have Google Earth you can use this link to find your fish (click here).

Other useful information from the WGFD comes form the Wyoming legislature. The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission has implemented emergency regulations to address the aquatic invasive species threat. Under this new regulation all boats, canoes and kayaks need to display an Aquatic Invasive Species decal. (click here)

Know your fish - Another great idea from the WGFD, is the importance of identifying the fish species. A fisherman needs to know what's in his or her creel for identifying your catch and to avoid a ticket. Take the Fish IQ test (click here).

Wyoming's Cutt-Slam Program:

Wyoming Cutt-Slam

Wyoming's Cutt-Slam Program is on my bucket list of things to do before (well you know). The Cutt-Slam is a program started by the Game and Fish in 1996 to recognize anglers for catching the four subspecies of cutthroat trout in their native range in Wyoming. The subspecies are the Bonneville, Colorado River, Yellowstone and Snake River cutthroat. All that is required is that you catch these fish and submit a photograph to a Game and Fish biologist with the date and location caught. It is not necessary to present the fish, because the Game and Fish is not looking to promote harvest. Once all four subspecies have been recorded, the Game and Fish will provide the angler with a certificate featuring color artwork of all four subspecies. more...

Free Fishing Day:

The 2003 Wyoming Legislature approved the creation of an annual Wyoming Free Fishing Day, to be designated by the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission, as part of the National Fishing and Boating Week. The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission has declared June 4, 2011 a Free Fishing Day to coincide with the beginning of the National Fishing and Boating week. Residents and nonresidents may fish Wyoming waters (excluding Wind River Indian Reservation and Yellowstone National Park, which are not regulated by the State of Wyoming) without a fishing license or conservation stamp. Many communities and groups offer fun public activities on this day. Specific activities are scheduled. (click here)

Fishing Report:

Not much has changed from last weeks fishing report; this weekend is supposed to be warmer, and we will have some melt from the recent snow so rivers will be a little higher.

Lake Hattie is producing large fish. If you can stand the wind and the cool temps it is well worth fishing Hattie.
Twin Buttes is fishing fair. The Wyoming Game and Fish is planning on stocking Twin Buttes this spring. We will keep you informed as to when that will be.
Galett is fishing well. People are catching numerous fish in the 20 plus inch range.
Meeboer appears to have had at least a partial winter kill. We will have more information next week after the game and fish does their studies. It also appears that Alsop has had a major winter kill.
Beaver Ponds above Laramie are not ready yet.
Lake Owen, Rob Roy are all Frozen over.
The North Platte is open from the confluence of the Encampment, up river from Treasure Island to Seminoe. The water temps are still quite low (mid 30's). You can expect the river to change day to day depending on precipitation and temperature.
Gray Reef - The Reef is running clear from the dam to Casper
The Miracle Mile is clear and fishing good.
The Big Laramie is almost totally clear.
