Wyoming Cowboy Mason Finley continued his success Wednesday as he was named the Mountain West's Male Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year by member institution head coaches.

Finley is a senior and the first ever UW athlete to receive the award.

Mason's throwing career with the team concluded this spring.  He earned his 11th All-American accolade by finishing sixth in the discuss last weekend at the NCAA Championships in Oregon.

He also helped the Cowboys finish second at the Mountain West Championships in Laramie this season, and his throw of 60-11 1/4 in the shot put set a Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex record.  Finley set a facility record and school record in the discuss a week earlier at the Cowpoke Open with a toss of 210-6.

Finley will compete in the dicuss Friday, June 27 in Sacramento, California at the U.S. Track & Field Outdoor National Championship.
