With a third place finish in the discus, Mason Finley won a bronze medal last Friday at the U.S. Track and Field Outdoor National Championships in Sacramento, CA.

Finley’s best throw was his second. He threw the discus 61.04 meters (200 feet- 3 inches) and finished just one centimeter out of second-place.

In a release from the University of Wyoming, UW associate head coach Paul Barrett said, “I was very impressed and proud of Mason today. In very bad wind conditions he went for broke and represented Wyoming at a world-class level.”

Alabama’s Hayden Reed topped the 18-man field with a toss of 62.19 meters (204-0).

Finley was ranked seventh going into the competition. He was 12th at the national championships last summer.
