Fall Sports Season Underway At Laramie High School [VIDEO]
The start of the fall high school sports season is upon us. While football got a jump last week, the five other fall sports began Monday.
High school student-athletes in volleyball, tennis, golf, cross country and girls swimming and diving were able to start their 2014 season. Most are going through two-a-day practices this week.
Laramie swim coach Tom Hudson said, “I’m very pleased with the numbers the first day. We’ve got 37 here, day one, and that’s a pretty good indicator that we should end up in the low-to-mid 40’s by the end of next week with the kids out on vacation and what not.”
Some programs at Laramie High School will make cuts to their roster, while others will stick with whoever keeps coming to practice.
They main gym at Laramie high school was packed with players from different grade levels trying out for the Lady Plainsmen volleyball team.
Even though you have several veteran coaches in the fall sports at LHS, and they have their regular practice routines, it doesn’t mean they didn’t ease into day one.
Hudson added, “We had just kind of a light workout Monday morning. We just went for an hour; just kind of get back in the water; get the feel of things; see where everyone is. I know who swam this summer and who didn’t.”
The focus Hudson said was on conditioning and stroke drills.
Believe it or not, but it’s already time for competition. The high school golf season starts tomorrow and Friday for the Laramie Plainsmen in Sheridan. The rest of the fall sports won’t actually compete until next weekend.
