This rousing Southern fairytale by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Driving Miss Daisy opened on Broadway in 1975, where it was nominated for six Tony Awards, 15 Drama Desk Awards, and four Lucille Lorelle Awards, winning several overall.

Set in 18th-century Mississippi, the musical follows Jamie Lockhart, a rascally robber of the woods, as he courts Rosamund, the only daughter of the richest planter in the country. The proceedings go awry, thanks to a case of double-mistaken identity. Throw in Rosamund's evil stepmother, a pea-brained henchman, and a hostile, talking head-in-a-trunk, and you have a rollicking country romp.

Wildly creative and deliciously entertaining, this theatrical gem is filled with raucous comic performances and features an irresistibly catchy bluegrass score.
