Eclipse Traffic Picking Up in Wyoming

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Department of Transportation reports increased traffic in the state leading up to next week's solar eclipse.

WYDOT spokesman Doug McGee says numbers from Wednesday and Thursday show overall traffic counts increased by more than 30,000 vehicles per day when looking at a five-year average for the same timeframes in August.

He says travelers are using secondary roads as well as the major highways.

To help the situation, the state will prohibit oversize or overweight vehicles on roadways Sunday through Tuesday.

Wyoming is one of the states in the path of the total solar eclipse.
