Easton Corbin Ready to Fire Up Wyoming Campus [AUDIO]

Easton Corbin is playing at the University of Wyoming on Saturday and much like everyone in Laramie, he’s pumped for it! I got to talk to Easton about the upcoming concert, his second album and what he likes to do in Wyoming.

While he’s been to Wyoming before, it will be his first visit to Laramie and through his thick, southern and ever charming accent, Easton said he thinks a college campus is a great place to play. Check out the interview below.

Tell you what, it’s some of the most fun when we do play on college campuses and stuff because those students get really fired up and it’s a great thing to have all that energy, you know?

What kind of a concert should fans expect?

We try to get out there and throw it all out there and get as much energy as we can into the concert. That’s what it’s all about, having a good time. We’re going to sing these new songs off the new record and we’re going to play some of the songs off of the, I hate to say old songs ’cause they’re not that old, but some of the other songs I have, we’re going to do some covers. We’re just going to have a good time, that’s what it’s all about.

Speaking of the new record, what are some of the highlights of ‘All Over the Road’ for you?

I think this album show some growth and I tell you what, I’m very, very excited about it. I think for a sophomore record, a lot people get nervous for a sophomore record because it’s one of those things where I think people are watching a little closer to see if you can follow up on what you’ve done before, if you’ve had success, and fortunately we had. I think we’ve done just that. I think we’ve made a record that’s just a good or better. It goes some different places melodically and goes a few differently places lyrically, but I’m really proud of it.

With your first record you were compared to George Strait a lot, did you stick with that same style or did you try to mix it up?

My style, I mean, everybody knows me for my traditional country sound. And that’s exactly what I do and that’s what I love. So, yeah, absolutely it’s that familiar sound I think that everybody recognizes me for.

Was there anything about going through the record-making process a second time that surprised you?

First record, like they say, you’ve got your whole life to prepare for. Second record, it’s like ‘boom’ you gotta get it done. And yeah, it’s a little bit like that but we took our time and we took about a year. You know it’s one of those processes where I stepped back and I said, ‘We’re going to do this just like the first record.’ If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. That even goes to the sound that I love. That’s what I do, I make country records and I’m going to keep doing it because that’s what I love and that’s me.

With the release of ‘All Over the Road’ I know you’re a busy guy, but are you going to be able to enjoy any of Wyoming while you’re here?

I hope so, it’s really beautiful out there. Last time I was out there I went on a pretty good motorcycle ride. It’s funny I got caught out in some rain out there and, boy, it was cold, but it was fun. I really enjoy it, all the nature and everything out there. I like to hunt and stuff so that’s prime hunting country. But, yeah, I’ll be going on a motorcycle ride there and checking out the countryside.
