Ivinson Memorial Hospital CEO Doug Faus stopped by the Laramie Live morning show to discuss the Joint Appropriations Committee's recent 7-5 vote to remove Gov. Matt Mead's suggestion to expand Medicaid from the upcoming state budget.

Faus said previously that Medicaid expansion would provide insurance to roughly 20,000 Wyomingites.  He estimates that 800-900 people in Albany County alone would have benefited from the expansion.

The full legislature could still consider Medicaid expansion as either a stand-alone bill or as a budget amendment when the legislature convenes Feb. 8 in Cheyenne.
