Whether it's a local brand, store made or a national/worldwide chain, people love doughnuts. In fact worldwide, according to AIB International, people around the world spent more than $563 million on doughnuts during a calendar year that ended in March 2011.

Doughnuts were first made in Holland in the 16th-century, according to Gather.com. They certainly can vary in calories depending on the brand, and according to Baking Management, Hostess says glazed is the most popular type.

There is the good news, as today is National Doughnut Day, and there's even some national chains, Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme, that are giving away free doughnuts today. This got us thinking about peoples eating habits. So Laramie...
