The 14th annual Diwali Night at the University of Wyoming features an evening of Indian culture including music and performances at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. A free dinner, with tickets required, is set for 7:30 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Tickets for the dinner are available at the Wyoming Union information desk beginning at noon Tuesday, Oct. 7, and also may be obtained Oct. 8-9. Ticket distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Diwali,” also known as the “Festival of Lights,” is India’s largest festival, celebrating the victory of good over evil.

The night will start with a variety of performances, including the Denver musical group Sands Around Infinity, and DJ Rinku and DJ Paul, also from Denver. Guests will include UW President Dick McGinity and UW English Department faculty member Nina McConigley, author of the award-winning collection of short stories, “Cowboys and East Indians.”
