For the first time in 21 years, the Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team is ranked. They are at number 25 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association top-25 rankings.

The last time the Cowgirls were ranked was October 11, 1994. That season, UW was in the rankings for four straight weeks, with their peak at number 23.

Wyoming head women's volleyball coach Chad Callihan said, 21 years, that's a long time.

"I think it's just a testament to the work they've put in to this season. These kids have invested a lot through the off-season and through the first part of the conference here. It's a nice accolade for them."

Callihan added that the coach in him almost wants it to go away because he wants his team to stay hungry and continue to play at a high level.

The Cowgirls have won six straight matches and nine of their last ten. They are presently 12-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Mountain West.

Wyoming goes on the road to face San Diego State and Nevada, Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
