Three Wyoming Cowgirls scored in double-figures Wednesday night which helped UW secure a 59-50 win over the Utah Utes at the Double-A. Aubrey Vandiver posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Hillary Carlson and Jade Kennedy each added 13 points.

Kennedy hit a big 3-point shot with 3:24 left and Bec Campigli combined with Carlson to hit 6 free throws in the final minute to clinch the win. Both Campigli and Carlson were perfect from the charity stripe, making 6 and 10 respectively. As a team the Cowgirls were 20-of-21 from the free throw line.

Campigli posted 9 points and 4 assists in 26 minutes and Head Coach Joe Legerski said her play was big in such a tight game:

"When Chaundra (Sewell) got in foul trouble, I thought Rebecca came in (and) gave us more quickness, stepped to the free throw line, hit her free throws, which were important and we just kind of kept that four to five point lead and then defensively I thought we did a good job. Anytime you hold somebody to 50 points, you did a tremendous job." -Coach Legerski

Wyoming (19-6, 9-3) had 15 assists on 16 field goals and shot 39%.

Utah (12-14, 5-7) was lead Iwalani Rodrigues with 21 points, while freshman standout Michelle Plouffe was held to 8 points. The Utes out-rebounded UW 35-29, but shot only 35%.

The first half was a back and forth battle with Utah tying the score five times but Wyoming was able to finish the half leading 28-23. In the second half the Cowgirls maintained the lead and finished the night up nine points, matching their largest lead.

The Cowgirls will have the weekend off and face their next opponent, Air Force, on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on KOWB will start at 6:30 p.m.
