The Wyoming Cowgirls won their first road game of the season with a fifth straight victory over Montana, 67-42, Sunday in Missoula.

Three Cowgirls scored in double figures led by Natalie Baker and Liv Roberts. They scored 14 points apiece. Marta Gomez added 10 points.

Head coach Joe Legerski, in a release from the university, said,

"I hitting a few shots early seemed to calm everyone's nerves."

Wyoming (7-3) jumped out with a 9-0 spurt in the first quarter that gave them the lead for good. Baker knocked down a pair of three’s during the run. They led 16-8 after the first quarter.

Taylor Rusk and Gomez made 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions early in the second that put UW up 22-8. It was 34-21 Cowgirls by halftime. Montana was never able to get closer than 11 points the rest of the game.

Legerski added from the release, "When you take a look that we scored 67 points and numbers don’t really jump out at you. We had three players in double digits, so I felt tonight everyone contributed."

Wyoming shot 46 percent from the field and went 7-of-20, 35 percent, from deep. They also were 16-19, 84 percent, at the free throw line. UW had only nine turnovers.

Montana (3-7) was led by McKenzie Johnston and Emma Stockholm with 10 points each. The Grizz were held to 32 percent from the floor. They were only 1-14, 7 percent, from beyond the arc. Montana also had 13 turnovers.

This marked Wyoming's seventh win in the last eight games of the series against Montana.

The Cowgirls return to action Wednesday, Dec. 21 in Boulder against No. 15 Colorado. The game will start at 7 p.m.
