The Wyoming Cowboys turned the ball over four times, and the Air Force Falcons pulled away for a 31-17 victory over the Pokes Saturday night in Colorado Springs.

Wyoming (0-6, 0-2) lost their ninth straight game dating back to last season. The Cowboys six straight losses to start a season is the first time it’s happened in 76 years.

Air Force (3-2, 2-0) got two touchdown runs from fullback Shayne Davern and another from quarterback Karson Roberts. Receiver Jalen Robinette threw a 56-yard TD pass to Garrett Brown early in the fourth quarter that sealed the Falcons win. Brodie Hicks added two interceptions and recovered a fumble inside the Air Force 10-yard line.

The Cowboys came up with two takeaways in the first half. They turned one into a Tristan Bailey 41-yard field goal. That made it 7-3 Falcons, which was the score at halftime.

With the score 14-3, UW tried to answer and drove inside the Air Force ten. Then disaster struck for the Cowboys, as a fumbled exchange between Cameron Coffman and Brian Hill was recovered by the Falcons at their four-yard line.

Air Force capitalized with the trick play TD. Then, a tipped pass was intercepted by Hicks. That turned into Davern’s second scoring run from 46 yards out for a 28-3 lead.

Hill finished with 128 yards, but also the two fumbles. Coffman threw for 192 yards and two scores. Both went to Jake Maulhardt in the fourth quarter, when the game was already decided. Coffman was also picked twice and was sacked four times.

Wyoming returns home Saturday to take on Nevada in their Homecoming game. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. from War Memorial Stadium.
