Josh Adams scored 25 points to lead four Cowboys in double figures, as Wyoming beat Montana State 82-68 Saturday night in Laramie.

Wyoming (4-2) beat the Bobcats six days after losing to them in Billings, MT last Sunday.

Jason McManamen added 16 points, while Justin James and Hayden Dalton each scored 11 points off the bench. UW also out-rebounded an opponent for the first time this season with a 35-33 edge against Montana State. Alan Herndon led the way with 12 rebounds.

The Cowboys second half defense proved to be the difference. After the Bobcats shot 57 percent in the first half, they were held to 32 percent in the second period. Wyoming was also bolstered by a 17-for-22 (77%) performance at the free throw line.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from James early in the second half gave the Pokes the lead for good. A Jeremy Lieberman three midway through the half sparked a 16-4 run that built a 72-57 lead. Wyoming’s edge never went below eight the rest of the game.

Montana State (3-3) was led by Marcus Colbert with 16 points.

The Bobcats got up by 11 point, 19-8, with just under 11 minutes left in the first half. The Cowboys answered with a 9-0 run. MSU eventually held a 40-36 lead at the break.

Wyoming’s next game is Wednesday, December 2 at Denver University. Game time is 7 p.m.
