Without a doubt the Clark Street viaduct was in rough shape and has caused concerns for quite some time.  On August 8th construction crews began repairs on the Clark Street Viaduct and had hopes of reopening the bridge by Monday August 15th. The viaduct will now reopen Saturday morning August 20th.

The additional closure will give workers more time to enhance repairs on the bridge deck and curb as well as give the concrete more time to cure. A section of curb on the north side of the bridge is scheduled to undergo repairs but those repairs will not begin until this fall.

While the bridge remains closed pedestrians and bicyclists can use the foot bridge on Garfield and 1st street. Motorists can continue to use the detour at Curtis Street located at the North end of town or use the 3rd street interchange located at the South end of Laramie.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the Clark Street viaduct you can contact WYDOT maintenance engineer Tim McGary at 745-2117 or Ross Doman at 760-2858.
