The Wyoming Transportation Department has closed the Clark Street Viaduct until the last week of August. The viaduct is shut down on both ends so some repair work can be done according to Ross Doman.

During the closure, motorists will have to detour either at Curtis Street on the north end of town or the Third Street Interchange at the south end. If you're walking or biking, you can use the Garfield Street footbridge to go over the railroad tracks.

Doman reports that improvements to the viaduct will include replacing 150 feet of curb, resetting guardrail and some mending of the deck. Reiman Corp. is doing the work for $94,000.

WYDOT also has a few other summer's end projects planned for Laramie. Grand Avenue will get a mill and overlay between 4th and 16th streets, meaning traffic will likely be one lane only for a few days. Then Harrick Lane, Curtis Street and Snowy Range Road will all have similar work done near the I-80 Interchanges. Project Engineer Elliott Bauder said all ramps and road will remain open during the work, which is being done by Simon Contractors for $1.2 million.
