A Cheyenne woman is behind bars after high centering her car on a guard rail near Crow Creek Thursday evening.

Cheyenne Police spokesman Officer Kevin Malatesta says 35-year-old Denise Johnson was headed north on Deming Drive around 4:45 p.m., when she tried to turn right onto W. 9th Street and ended up driving up and over the guard rail at the intersection.

"Fortunately nobody else was hurt or injured," said Malatesta. "It could have been much worse if other people had been at that intersection."

Johnson, who was treated for minor injuries at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, was arrested for DUI, reckless driving and driving without a seat belt.

"We just want to remind everybody to drive safe," said Malatesta. "With the Fourth of July coming up we're definitely going to be increasing our traffic enforcement and our DUI enforcement, so if people think they're going to get away with driving under the influence they're not going to be doing it here in Cheyenne."
