Cheyenne Police are investigating the shooting of a 9-month-old child on Thursday night.

Spokesman Officer Dan Long says police were called to 5000 Ogallala Place at about 9:30 p.m. after getting a call on a child being shot. Long says 24-year-old Joshua Karban had been working with the slide on his pistol when the gun went off.

Long says the bullet went through a wall and hit Karban's son in the leg. The child had been asleep at the time. The baby was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center after being shot.

Long says police didn't believe the wound would be fatal.
