A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department says despite the legalization of marijuana in Colorado there hasn't been a noticeable jump in pot violations during the last couple of Cheyenne Frontier Days.

Officer Dan Long says in general crime tends to increase during CFD proportional to the larger number of people in the area. He says that while that includes marijuana violations, the increase in the number of people caught with pot is about the same as the jump in other crimes and doesn't seem to be especially spiking any more than other violations.

Colorado voters approved a ballot initiative in 2012 legalizing the sale and use of recreational marijuana, and weed has been legally sold in the state since 2014. Pot is still illegal in Wyoming.
