Customers of Hastings Entertainment Inc. are noticing significant service changes at the company's 126 locations across the country following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

The company announced the filing, which includes its parent company Draw Another Circle and sister brands Movie Stop and SPImages, on Monday. In a statement, the company says the process "will help to prepare our business for the intended sale while also providing additional protections and financing to allow us to serve you as usual."

But in a departure from the usual, the company announced the end of some programs along with other changes.

According to the company's website, game rentals are no longer available. Gift cards will expire July 13, and the Hastings buyback program has been suspended.

In addition, Hastings locations will not accept nor honor customer deposits for future movie purchases. The company is instead allowing existing deposits to be applied toward in-store purchases.

The company refers customers to a frequently asked questions section and says it will provide updates as Hastings works to identify a buyer.

Management at Laramie's Hastings declined to comment, deferring to a communications consultant based in New York.
