The Laramie Rangers overcame a sour start to win the Dooley Oil Classic this weekend in Laramie as Cowboy Field celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Laramie defeated Bear Creek 12-4 in the championship game.

After six years at the helm of the Laramie Plainsmen boys basketball program, Jason Mountain has stepped down. The news became official Sunday, as the veteran coach will be pursuing interests at the collegiate level.

Laramie High School senior Kari Campbell was awarded Female Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Athlete at the Laramie Quarterback Club Spring Senior Honor Banquet on Wednesday night. The honors come with $1,500 in Gene Benson Memorial Scholarship money presented by Pepsi. Tate Hilgenkamp was named Male Athlete of the Year, a scholarship reward of $500.

Aidan McDonald, a senior at Laramie High School, has been named a Wyoming winner of the 2011 Siemens Foundation's Advanced Placement Awards for earning the highest math and science AP exam scores in the state, which earns him a $2,000 scholarship.

The Laramie Plainsmen will bring home the 2nd place trophy from the class 4A 2011 Wyoming State Basketball Tournament after a 60-33 loss to the Gillette Camels in the championship game.

The Laramie Plainsmen swim team won their third consecutive 4A State Championship Friday in Gillette. Laramie broke three state records, took two individual titles and accumulated 286 points, which put them 88 points ahead of the second place team.

A third consecutive road game and the home finale are on tap for the 5th-ranked Laramie Plainsmen basketball team this weekend.
