Coming off their first loss of the season, the Wyoming Cowgirls return to the home pitch Friday and Sunday at the Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex.

Cowgirl soccer lost at Northern Colorado Tuesday night, 4-1. They’ll be trying to bounce back and also looking to extend the nation’s longest non-conference home unbeaten streak among Division I teams, which stands at 14 dating back to Sept. 22, 2013. UW is 12-0-2 in that span.

The weekend opens with a match against the Montana Griz Friday. Montana (1-3-1) has tied the Cowgirls in their last two meetings. The Griz hold a 5-3-3 edge in the series.

After that match, it’s a quick turnaround to Big 10 opponent Iowa in the first-ever meeting between the two schools Sunday. The Hawkeyes are off to a 4-0-1 start and face rival Iowa State Friday before coming to Laramie Sunday.

Freshman midfielder Adalyn Vergara and junior midfielder Summer Taube looked ahead to this big weekend.

Friday’s match against Montana starts at 4 p.m. Sunday’s match versus Iowa will start at noon.
