The Big Laramie Valley Cancer Benefit will serve dinner and feature a live auction to raise money for local cancer patients at Harmony School this Saturday, June 17.

Organizer Debbie Coleman said the event, which has been held annually in Laramie since 1972 with a few exceptions, donates all proceeds to cancer patients through two organizations, Gifts for Living and the Ivinson Memorial Foundation.

“The funds are for local cancer patients only,” Coleman said. “The funds are not for medical costs, but for any of their any other expenses that they incur in order to get treatment.”

Coleman said the event will begin at 6 p.m. with a dinner of soup and salad, bread and a dessert of cookies, served by the Harmony Home and Community Club. Dinner prices are $2.50 for children under 11 and $5.00 for adults. The live auction will follow at 7:15 p.m., and will be proceeded over by auctioneer Jeff Ward.

Coleman said the items for auction were donated by the Laramie community. Those who still wish to donate items can bring them on the night of the benefit and they will be auctioned off as well.
