As the grass starts to turn green, the soccer balls begin to get restless in the garage. It’s as if they can sense the new grass creeping up from the soil. With the grass calling, it’s time to get your friends and family together and head to a soccer field. Soccer is a great group game because even new players can find moderate success at it (unlike baseball where the bat may never make contact with the ball). It’s also a game than can be play with a wide range of people. From a simple one v. one game to 11 players on each side, it’s easy to get a game going.

If practice has ended, the fields at the high school and middle school provide well-painted boundaries and new nets to shoot the winning goal into. However, there may be a lone player or two who has stayed after practice, hoping to make the varsity team.

    Kiwanis Park

Kiwanis Park is a great place to kick the ball around and warm up before heading over to the soccer complex and seeing who is around for a pick-up game.

    Undine Park

Undine Park often hosts the “Laramie little league” of soccer. However, it also is a great place to start up a pick-up game or cheer on the little feet chasing after soccer balls.

    Washington Park

Thanks to the large field on the eastern end of the park, players at Washington will not have to complete with the baseball field that is also in the area (although you should keep an eye out for balls). Washington park is also a common place for college pick-up games, as it is close to campus and the residence halls. So if you want to take one some twenty-somethings, head to Washington.
